Note on Grading

Read all of the content in this module. That is how you will support what you learned in the lab and also practice reading. The more you read, the better reader you will become! Read, read, read as much as you can, always!

There are also many activities to help you practice different reading and writing activities in this module. Review all activities. Next select at least eight among those that challenge you the most and complete those activities.

In this station’s lab, you were introduced to thermoregulation, or how the body keeps its temperature within certain boundaries, even though the surrounding temperature may vary greatly. You learned that our bodies strive to maintain a state of homeostasis.
REFLECTION
Talk with your coach or another classmate about the following questions.  If no one else is around, write your short answers and share with your coach the next time you see him/her.

  1. What is homeostasis?
  2. Can you think of other systems in your home that need to regulate temperature?
  3. How does your car regulate temperature?
